Legionella risk is often invisible until testing identifies a problem — or until an outbreak, complaint or regulator enquiry places the system under scrutiny. Building owners, facility managers and businesses have duties under work health and safety and public health requirements to identify, manage and verify water-related health risks, particularly in systems where warm temperatures, stagnation, biofilm, sediment or weak disinfection can allow Legionella to grow.
SCG provides independent Legionella and water quality inspection, sampling, testing coordination and reporting for cooling towers, evaporative systems, warm-water and hot-water systems, drinking-water supplies and other managed water systems. Engagements can include routine verification sampling, post-remediation testing, water risk assessments, review of water quality management plans, field parameter testing and microbiological analysis interpreted against relevant guidance.
SCG does not sell water treatment. We provide independent testing, inspection and evidence-based reporting so duty holders can understand what the results mean, what actions are required and whether controls are working in practice. Where inspection activities fall within SCG’s accredited scope, outputs may be issued in accordance with NATA ISO/IEC 17020 requirements.
SCG supports Legionella and water quality testing engagements across:
Particular expertise is applied where water systems present higher public health or operational risk, including cooling towers, warm-water systems, complex building water networks and facilities where independent evidence may be required for regulator engagement, incident response, due diligence or post-remediation verification.
Engagement outputs are structured to support compliance, governance and practical action. Depending on scope, deliverables typically include:
Independent testing and verification — SCG does not sell water treatment, so findings are not shaped by treatment revenue
NATA-accredited inspection body to ISO/IEC 17020 within defined scope, Accreditation No. 20913
Practical environmental health and water quality experience across commercial, public, health, accommodation and operational environments
Clear interpretation of technical results against relevant guidance, not just laboratory numbers without context
Outputs structured for duty-holder due diligence, regulator engagement and post-remediation verification
Direct access to senior practitioners, with no handoff layers
Legionella risk management is the ongoing process of identifying where Legionella can grow in water systems, controlling the conditions that allow growth and verifying through testing that controls are working. It typically considers system design, temperature, stagnation, biofilm, sediment, disinfection, maintenance and monitoring. SCG supports the independent inspection, sampling, testing and verification component.
Testing frequency is set by regulation and your site’s risk-management plan. We confirm the right cadence for your systems and jurisdiction.
Yes. SCG is accredited by NATA as an inspection body to ISO/IEC 17020 (Accreditation No. 20913), covering environmental-health inspection including water quality.
